Niagara Falls. This name isMohawk. It means, according to Mrs. Kerr, the neck; the term being first applied to the portage or neck of land, between lakes Erie and Ontario. By referring to Mr. Elliott's vocabulary, (chapter xi) it will be seen that the human neck, that is, according to the concrete vocabulary, hisneck, isonyara.Red Jacketpronounced the word Niagara to me, in the spring of 1820, as if written O-ne-au-ga-rah.

Finally a modern facility. It's wonderful addition and next to the river. Great place to stop by and take the train to NY City or Toronto.

Minus 5 stars actually! (by train)Although I don't expect courtesy in USA at all, the officer threw my passport to me.No respect to others and their belongings! They lack the sense that they are treating very important items at the very important place.I had never been treated like this in about 30 other countries.Or, they may look down on alians.Anyway, even if I come to Niagara falls in summer ( I was almost frozen in winter lol), I will never go this way, definitely!

The train station for Niagara Falls New York makes a great example of creating the future while protecting the past. The station shares a wall, a beautiful limestone wall, with the old customs house. I was so gratified to see that wall when I arrived in Niagara Falls on Friday night, albeit an hour and a half late. I felt comforted by the guard who awaited our arrival and kept the lights on in the station. Although it stands a short drive north of downtown Niagara Falls, the station is but a short distance from the downtown. It's a minimum fare Uber ride to hotels by the Rainbow Bridge. The facility has a newness about it and a cleanliness that comes from newness. A ticket counter handles business during business hours. Sadly, if one were waiting for a while, I saw nothing like a bar or restaurant across the street where one could buy a snack or sip a beer. The space calls for a concession, at least a coffee shop. Unusually, we were not allowed out onto the platform until the my moment before we boarded. I like to sit and wait on the platform. No stools or stairs were required to board the train. We stepped right from the yellow line into the open door. What a great advantage for people who have difficulty going up stairs. This station shows how far we've come in rebuilding our transportation infrastructure. I hope this progress isn't lost. I would hate to see this station idled by the lack of trains. As a plus, I had time to read the interpretive exhibit on Niagara Falls as a final stop on the Underground Railroad.

I absolutely love the new train station no more rocks and train tracks to walk across to get on the train. I take the train very often to Rochester and Syracuse to visit my daughter and brother. Always a nice ride.
