Best boat ride everYou get close to the American and Canadian falls, but they take you much closer to the Canadian falls. It's incredible to see and feel the power of the waterfall! We were drenched inspite of the ponchos provided, but it was a hot day so we didn't really mind. It gets pretty choppy as the boat gets closer to the falls, something to consider if you get motion sickness. It was an incredible experience and we will definitely do it again.
The Niagara Falls boat tour is a fun experience that you should not miss if you're at the Falls. We purchased out tickets from the concierge at the hotel where we were staying and it's pretty much the same price as the kiosk, $25 Canadian dollar. The line was long but moves very fast. The boats leave every 15 minutes in high season and supposedly they can hold up to 700 people. They do provide a poncho, which helps with not getting totally wet as the boat gets close to the horseshoe Falls and the mist is heavy. If you're on the Canadian side you get red color poncho. The American side boats use blue color poncho. The entire boat tour is about 30 minutes and it's worth every penny.
Riding on this boat is well worth doing! My entire family loved riding the Hornblower into the mist coming off of the waterfalls. If you're in the area then I highly suggest checking this out. Be prepared to get wet even though they do provide ponchos for the ride. If you're not into getting wet then you can ride in the lower portion of the boat which is enclosed and dry.
Warning! You will get soaked. I don't know why when walking the long stretch to the boat it didn't hit me just how wet you'd get. But seeing as how it'll rain at the top of the falls, I should have known just how much of a down pour it would be. And man, is it cold! But what a view. If you think seeing the falls from the top outlooks are great, get to the bass of them to really understand their power. Great views, great fun, and if you don't do this, you're really missing out on the the Niagara Falls experience.
The experience is only about 15 minutes, but it is a good experience if you're in the area and haven't done it before. I've done it before many years ago, I believe it was a different company back then. Expect large crowds and long lines. But they move fairly quick. Expect plenty of rainbows and sunny days and to get drenched. Water resistant phones or phone protectors are recommended, though not entirely necessary. Long sleeve clothing is not recommended. Have fun.
