We were a group of 5 seniors. When we approached the tour desk in the Embassy Suites Hotel in Niagara Falls, we were told not to use the hop on, hop off bus because of line ups etc and that we should go with Scenic Tours of Niagara. Without asking us, they quoted us in U.S. funds. 4 of our group were Canadian so we thought the price was a lot lower than what it was. We also were not told about an additional NFDF Tax of 8% (in addition to the HST tax of 13%). When taking into consideration the currency exchange and the 2 taxes, it increased the price tremendously. We had already said yes, we would take the tour so we were somewhat shocked. When we boarded the bus, a big sign said it was expected that we pay a gratuity of 20% to the tour guide. I'm not saying it was not a good tour, it was but the gratuity should have been included and the full price should have been shown on a board, up front, with the exchange rate. I just feel people should know up front what the total price would end up being.
Absolutely ripped off for 713 CAD. I am attorney and I can advise that in the states what happened to me would be illegal. I bought 3 tickets for what i was told was a 4 hour tour. I showed up with my two sisters and we were told we had time to look around while the bus driver went to get our boat tickets we went to the restroom and then came back to the meeting area and the bus had left. We begged for boat tickets and even have proof from our photo of the parking lot and iphone tracking that we were only gone for 9 mins. We asked them if we could reschedule for another time or even just do the boat under the falls portion of the tour and they declined. What made matters even worse is that we were told the price for the tours I purchased were an ALL DAY price not just 4 hours. We were ripped off and scammed. Poor communication from their driver and their failure to do anything to make this right got them a free 713 CAD.
Scenic tours of Niagara was a great way to see different aspects of the great Falls and businesses that have grown around them. Fortunato, our guide was patient, knowledgeable and diligent a great driver and a gentle nature. He was a joy. There are certainly tourist traps, but overall it is helpful to experience the falls with a guide.
We loved the boat ride, the tunnel and the 4D experience - great experience! However, for the price I would expect better organization. Nobody communicated the full agenda for the day, so we didn't know when to expect lunch, kids were really hungry. In the bus, the tour guide kept asking other kids to be quiet. How can you keep your kids quiet, especially on vacation? Few times we were told: "now we're going to cut in line, just don't look into their eyes", which makes me doubt if all this thing is legal?
Lyn was the best. Informative, funny and courteous. Lyn made this tour even more amazing than what it already was. Connecticut was in the house on the bus and we had a blast. I give the tour 5 stars and Lyn Hannigan 5+stars.
We found this tour very interesting and our tour guide Dirk well informed and very friendly!!! Would recommend tour to anyone that wanted to get up close and personal with Niagara Falls!!!
Dirk did an amazing job of showing us around. This is a MUST if you are visiting the falls. We saved literal hours at every stop by being part of the tour group and learned a lot of cool history and fun facts along the way. Spend the extra money on a proper guide with this company and save your valuable time to see even more things! We found this company in the lobby of the four points. We were staying at a different hotel that didn't offer a lot of tour options so we walked down here and it was really worth it! This is the equivalent of having a fast pass, transportation, and a tour guide all in one.
Amazing, knowledgeable and kind are how I'd best describe George, our wonderful Niagara guide! One of a kind. We all absolutely loved him, his energy, sense of humor and willingness to go way above and beyond. George, you made our trip and we're coming back to see you again! Tour stops were great - 3.5 hours for Tour behind the Falls, boat, and whirlpool. Tour guide Erez however was arrogant and rude and was 45 minutes late which caused us to have to be rushed through the sites. While some people may not have recognized and caught on to his condescending comments there were several parties on our tour bus that did and his form of sarcasm was not well received. My family tuned him out about half way through. If he just gave the facts, instead of trying to make it a stand up act the tour would've been fine.
